We’re knowledgable in organic gardening practices and are thrilled to answer any gardening questions you may have, offering guidance right there in your garden, worksheets, and printed resources that detail our tried-and-true methods.

Hands-On, Customized Demonstrations

Since Garden Coaching sessions take place in your garden, you’ll have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Garden Coach to practice first-hand the techniques you’re learning in your own space.

Resources & Materials

We bring all the tools and equipment needed to work with you in your garden. We come equip with our own seasonally-appropriate, local-to-Ohio curriculum, but are prepared to tackle any garden-specific issues that may arise.

Jumpstart Your Season Package

$550 for smaller garden (1-3 raised beds) + cost of materials upon client request

$850 for larger gardens (4+ raised beds) + cost of materials upon client request

A great option to help jumpstart your garden for the season with confidence and professional support!

Includes an introduction session, a session for making a planting plan & prepping your beds, a spring planting session, and a summer planting session. The spring and summer planting sessions can be combined if you’re booking in May or later.

All sessions are one-on-one with your garden coach, in your space, booked based on your schedule and availability. Every single piece of the planning, planting, variety selection, and side-by-side maintenance demonstrations are tailored to your specific garden.

What’s Included in Jumpstart Your Season

  • 1 hour session for small gardens, 1.5 session hours for larger gardens. Can book February - May.

    Includes:

    • An overview walkthrough of your garden coaching package

    • Instructions on how to make a base map for planning

    • Materials/resources we recommend

    • A copy of our Columbus Foodscapes 15-page planting calendar guide

    • A copy of our Master Veggie Grower’s Spreadsheet, with over 50 of the most common fruits & veggies

    • Homework for next session

    • Time to review any initial questions you might have

    At the end of this session, you’ll have specific homework and be ready to jump into planning your garden.

  • 2 hours for small gardens, 3 hours for larger gardens. Can book February - May. Must book after session 1.

    Includes:

    • Step-by-step walk-through of our tried-and-true method for making a planting plan

    • Support in prioritizing what you want to grow and learning what’s possible when making your plan

    • How to plan your garden for maximum growth and harvest

    • Learning about the unique seasons in Ohio and how and when to plan & plant spring & summer crops so that all plants are healthy and productive

    • Companion planting methods & how to plan for companion plants

    • A list of where we recommend sourcing supplies like seeds, seedlings, and other gardening supplies (we can also offer estimates for these if you want us to bring them to the next session when we plant!)

    • Option to add on garden maintenance so we can do the heavy lifting of prepping the beds for planting

    • Time to review any other questions you might have

    By the time this session is finished, you’ll have an excellent planting plan and be ready to jump into action planting out the garden!

  • 2-3 hours for small gardens, 4 hours for larger gardens. Can book March - May. Must book after session 2.

    This is where we “dig in” to the garden! We’ll spend the session planting out all of the spring crops you planned for in your newly prepared space.

    Here’s what else we cover:

    • A review of our general best gardening practices, like how to water, identify weeds, determine if an insect is a friend or foe, and other organic practices

    • How to use materials like insect netting and row cover to ensure for the best possible crop

    • How to plant different seeds, what to look for when planting seeds

    • How to prepare and plant seedlings/plugs to ensure their success

    • How to do succession planting

    • Time to review any other questions you might have!

    If you’d like us provide the seeds and seedlings for planting, we’ll send you an estimate after our planning session (session #2) for those supplies. If you prefer to order and pickup supplies yourself, we’ll give you a comprehensive list of where we recommend sourcing seeds & organic seedlings locally.

  • 3 hours for small gardens, 4 hours for larger gardens. Can book May-June. Option to combine spring & summer planting session if already May/June.

    This is where we’ll finish planting our your garden space, including all summer crops (Tomatoes! Corn! Peppers! So many delicious things!).

    Here’s what else we cover:

    • Continued review of our general best gardening practices/anything we didn’t cover in the spring planting session, like how to water, identify weeds, determine if an insect is a friend or foe, and other organic practices

    • Review some of the nitty-gritties about the “drama queen” plants: plants that are harder/more finicky to plant and care for, and specific recommendations we have for those

    • How to prepare and plant seedlings/plugs to ensure their success

    • Continue planting succession crops like beans, carrots, radishes, and others

    • Time to review any other questions you might have!

If you prefer to order and pickup supplies yourself, we’ll give you a comprehensive list of where we recommend sourcing seeds & organic seedlings locally.

Guided Maintenance Session

$150 for 2 hours + $50/hour for every hour after

Feeling overwhelmed with how to start tend to your garden? A Guided Maintenance Session can help get you back on track. Here’s some of what we usually do together in our Guided Maintenance Sessions:

  • Troubleshoot common garden issues, like drainage, soil concerns, diseases, pests, and more

  • Proper harvesting techniques, how to know when something is ready to harvest

  • How and what to prune in your garden

  • Organic fertilizing & amending practices

  • Any other questions you have about pests, diseases, best gardening practices, irrigation, and more!

All sessions are one-on-one with your garden coach, in your space, booked based on your schedule and availability. Every session is tailored to your interests, experience, and the needs of your specific garden.

$45/hour
