Garden Consultations
Your abundant garden starts here.
Every Columbus Foodscapes garden begins with a 60-90 minute garden consultation. During this visit, we’ll learn about your vision, walk through the basics of organic edible gardening, and survey your space to understand what’s possible.
From there, we’ll dream up a plan for your edible landscape together. Whether you’re looking for a full garden installation, guidance for a DIY project, improvements to an existing garden, ongoing organic maintenance, or hands-on education, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
How It Works
Once you book your consultation, you’ll get a link right away to schedule your session so we can visit your site. We serve all of Franklin County including Columbus and the surrounding suburbs and neighborhoods (Dublin, Worthington, Hilliard, Gahanna, Bexley, New Albany, Grove City, Delaware, etc.) If you’re outside of the service area or are unsure if you are, kindly reach out here: info@columbusfoodscapes.com.
When you book your consultation, you also get a copy of our client-favorite resource, our Month-By-Month Planting Calendar.
① Book Your Consultation
The site visit begins with a tour of your landscape and a discussion about your goals and vision for your edible garden. At the site visit, you’ll get:
A Full Site Analysis, including feedback on and examination of soil, sun, potential & suggested garden placement, irrigation opportunities, and more.
A collaborative design session for your foodscape, which can include reviewing ideas for raised beds, in-ground beds, pollinator patches, rain barrels, pathways, trellises, rain gardens, garden structures like greenhouses and sheds, and more. If you’re not sure what you want yet, don’t worry, we bring plenty of images and come with ideas and suggestions!
A follow-up with a clear proposal and estimates for services we may have discussed at your session, like garden installations, garden fix-ups, garden coaching, and maintenance.
Any additional materials relevant to the consultation time, like our seed-starting chart, local references, favorite nurseries, and other resources
② Site Visit
After the consultation, we’ll prepare a clear garden proposal that includes any estimates for installations, DIY Garden guides, garden maintenance, and/or garden coaching.
You can treat this proposal as a menu: ordering what services you’d like and passing on the ones that don’t fit your needs right now.
Our proposals are often jumping-off places, and highly collaborative. We are happy to go through multiple iterations to ensure it fits your vision, budget, and space.
③ Review Your Proposal
We know the garden season waits for no one, so once you approve of your Garden Project(s), we’ll work to get your installation, maintenance, or garden coaching sessions on the calendar as soon as possible.
We know firsthand how exciting the promise of a new garden can be, so we are committed to clear deadlines and consistent communication throughout the process so you feel supported and have clarity every step of the way.
④ Project Approval & Installation
We’ll walk you through the entire garden so you know what’s growing and offer some tips & tricks to ensure a delicious bounty! All Columbus Foodscapes gardeners receive access to our exclusive Client Resource Library to ensure continued success.
If you could use a little extra support at any time, we are happy to offer various organic maintenance packages including monthly and quarterly visits, and specialty one-time maintenance. Maintenance services allow you to enjoy the light tending and harvests of your edible garden without feeling overwhelmed, and most of our clients enjoy the quarterly service for new compost and plants at the start of each season.
